The year that was

With 2011 almost a day old already, I look back on some of the big things in my life in 2010.

- I began my internship at Benton Street Baptist. I needed one in order to graduate on time and this church answered my prayers. The pastoral staff and youth leaders are so encouraging and helped me grow as a future youth worker. Pastor Jaye has been mentoring me, and giving me opportunities to "take charge". They have been hard, but I always learn by experience. Also, the youth I work with are fantastic, fun and also encouraging to be around. I feel that I have found my niche' for a church, forgive me if it sounds kind of selfish, but I want to be a part of a congregation that is being taught theologically sound doctrine, is growing and is an example of Christ's love. My home church had a nasty split a year before I moved to Kitchener and now, it seems to lack spiritual growth. I cannot thrive in an environment that is not thriving themselves.

- 2010 was a year of healing: I won't go into details here, but those close to me know what I mean. The support means more than you will ever know. I was suffering through certain things and I had a demonic attack in April. It was so scary and still do this day, haunts me. The days after the attack brought alot of healing and at a worship night that following Friday, I lost it. I broke down. Certain friends had their input with this healing and I am eternally greatful. 2011, will prove to be a challenging year, but with God's help will be able to overcome.

- I learned many things last year:  academically and in real life. How to handle leadership, resoponsibility and stress. No doubt I learned about stress, and also the pure, real power of the simplest act most Christians struggle with: prayer.

I learned how to trust people better, to be more open.  To truly filter my choices of media. Finally, to trust God no matter what. I know there's more, but that's it for now.
